Wildcats vs. Hinsdale Falcons

After the record-setting rains at the end of last week, both teams were wearing a lot of mud within minutes of the starting whistle. Good Wildcat blocking allowed Dean Pauley to make two good runs and get the Cats within scoring range and off to a quick lead of 6-0. Hinsdale responded a decent trek through the mud of their own to tie it up again. Just before the half, a pass by Travis Kuhlmann found Zach Burghardt and paved the way for a 12-6 lead. Going into the second half, the Falcons came back with a second TD and added the extra point as well. Both defenses held through the remainder of the game and the final stood at 13-12, our closest game yet. The loss brings the Wildcats to 0-5 on the season.

Practice resumes tomorrow at 5:30 at the firing range field.

Game Four vs. South Elgin

Game four vs. the South Elgin Patriots ended within striking distance at 14-20 to put the Wildcats record at 0-4. Gordon Behr made a great reception from Travis Kuhlmann which led to a touchdown run by Ben Trygar, but left the Wildcats down 20-6 at the half. A 25-yard run by Nick Turner gave the Cats some yardage as did an interception and run by Jimmy Rizzo. Zach Burghardt made another touchdown run to bring the Wildcats to 12 and an extra point pass to Chance Coats put the team within six as the final minutes of the game wound down.

Game Three vs. Wheaton Rams

Today's game on the soggy home turf against the Wheaton Rams set the Wildcats back to 0-3 on the season with a tough loss under miserable conditions. The Rams went up 24-0 by the half and were held to two touchdowns in the second half for a final of 36-0. Gordon Behr made a magnificent reception on a pass from Travis Kuhlmann and the Wildcats enjoyed several successes in offside penalties levied against the Rams, but in the end the Rams pulled off a decisive win. Coach Rohrdanz encouraged the kids to shake it off and set their sights on next week's game against the South Elgin Patriots.

Wildcats vs. Bloomindale Bears

As the clanging cowbells of "I got the power" queued up again over the megaphone loudspeakers every few minutes, the Bloomingdale Bears brought the Wildcats season record to 0-2 with some powerful passing and tough defense.

The Wildcats answered the Bears first touchdown with six points of their own following a great Travis Kuhlmann to Gordon Behr pass before the half.

The Bears pulled ahead again at the end of the third (12-6). Another great pass to Behr made things look like they might balance out, but a fumble turned the ball back to the Bears again.

In the fourth, the Bears capitalized again with a TD run up the middle and an interception with one minute left capped the final at 24-6.

Tomorrow will mark a reprieve in the practice schedule for the holiday, which will resume for Tuesday and Thursday this week.
